Buffalo Meatheads 2012 Beer Blast

It's that time of year again! We're gearing up for what promises to be another year of outstanding Competition Barbeque. The Meatheads are becoming one of the premiere teams in Western New York, and this year we've got our sites set on taking home the Empire State Championship.

Oinktoberfest - 10 Years

To help celebrate the 10th Anniversary of Oinktoberfest, the Meatheads settled in to our home field at the Great Pumpkin Farm in Clarence ready for a fun, relaxing finale to the Barbeque Season. Despite some heavy rain Friday the weather was clear and dry for most of the weekend. With great people, copious amounts of liquid refreshment, and that home-town view we only get at Clarence, the weekend became one of the many memorable outings we've had as a team. Congrats George on 10 years of a job well done.

Buffalo Tastes Country...and Meat

The Taste of Country BBQ Nationals series rolled into unsuspecting Buffalo, NY with no idea what the event would bring. As a late entry, the Meatheads decided to "give it a go", as this was our closest, most local event to-date, and we couldn't just let the opportunity slip away. In what appeared to be an ever-growing mass of people, the Meatheads stood tall among other teams who were inundated with requests for more food. The event was a massive success, and proved that Buffalo is a town that is ravenous for Barbeque.

Competitions and Cookouts

July was a busy month for the Buffalo Meatheads. Between cookouts for some of our beloved sponsors (A big Thank You to Fran Levinson and Friends for their generous support!), competition and Brockport, and a Family Reunion, the Meatheads have been spread about. The one thing that remained the same throughout was our attention to making our gatherings fun and enjoyable for everyone involved, and having some fine BBQ as well.

Boston Hills BBQ Bog

Friday June 24, the Boston Hills BBQ Festival kicked off with on-again off-again showers all day long. By the time of the Team pot-luck dinner, the contest area was already damp and muddy. This had no ill effects on the competitors as each team battled the elements, with smiles and laughter. There's something about BBQ that brings the fun out of even the dreariest weather, so by Sunday's warm-up and beautiful sunshine, no one had even noticed the rain. Another successful event, ran by Mike Cartechine and crew. Well done!

Wilson Gets Smoked

The Crossborder Blues Brews & Que was host to the Buffalo Meatheads on June 17th and 18th, in Wilson, NY. The site was an old building made entirely of hand-laid stone, and will soon be host to the Woodcock Brothers Brewery. The Barbeque portion was expertly headed by Frank Tutzauer of Doghouse Willie. Frank made sure we were set with amenities, ice and managed to cram us between some fine BBQ folk, the Pork Ninjas and the Blues Competition winner, 12 Pack Jack.

After an off-season full of planning, dissecting and preparation, the Meatheads kicked off 2011 in Rochester at the Roc City Ribfest. This event is becoming one of the largest BBQ events not only in New York but across the region, as over 120 teams showed up for the main event, the Rib Cook-Off. Despite the number of smokers, tents, and competitors, the weekend turned into a great time, and the rain was easily forgotten. Hats off to the boys from Good Smoke BBQ for a very well-deserved job well done!

Beer Blast is a Success!

On Saturday April 30, the Buffalo Meatheads 2011 Beer Blast kicked off with beautiful weather, great people and most importantly excellent BBQ. Supporters enjoyed copious amounts of food and drink, good music and great company as the team got to display our cooking, equipment and all the elements that go into our competitions.

The team would like to extend a truly heartfelt thanks to everyone who came out on such a gorgeous day, to support the team and inspire us to continue doing the things we love.

Oinktoberfest 2010

Another year of competition has concluded. This year's Oinktoberfest was chock full of new challenges, high winds and even some TV personalities. All in all the event went very smooth, and we look forward to next year.
